National Tree Day at The Bug Rug

  • Creek entry near 59 Sanders Avenue Sunshine West, VIC, 3020 Australia (map)

Come down and help The Friends of Kororoit Creek plant 4000 grasses, wildflowers, shrubs and trees at our gorgeous Bug Rug site!

We will be planting out the giant rock and log sunray with mass plantings of wildflowers and grasses and planting shrubs and trees along the fenceline and entry. A bit of infill in last year’s fantastic NTD planting area too.

There will be a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony, Water Bug activities and face painting by kids for kids, lots of planting, food from the amazing Thanh at Ebi Fine Foods, and The Coffee Mill coffee van will be onsite - so bring your keep-cups and purses for a hot drink!

The team from Urban Guerrillas will be helping out - so come day G'day to this great group of young environmentalists and change makers. Cal from Urban Guerrillas will take us on a little bird walk during a quieter time on the day.

There will be a free tree giveaway from the folks at Kororoit Creek Neighbourhood House - details coming soon!

Please bring your own gloves and reusable water bottles. It is wise to wear long pants and shirts as well as sturdy shoes.

The Bug Rug is accessible via 59 Sanders Ave and Derby Rd/Mayne St West Sunshine. Entries and site are wheelchair and mobility scooter accessible.

For the comfort of all attendees please keep any doggos on a lead. Children must be supervised at all times.

This event is kindly sponsored by Melbourne Water, Brimbank City Council and supported by Greater Western Water and Orica. Thank you to all our supporters and friends!
